My deathmask, sort of...

This is a sketch of a plaster cast of my face. Even though it kinda looks like a sleeping man, there is some me in there! Now I actually have to use the cast to make a latex mask for a Masquerade Party tomorrow night. I have my work cut out for me! Time is getting tight, cause I was drawing... a pretty good excuse, if you'll ask me.

keepin' me honest...

In the interest of full disclosure, the knot of threaded lines on the left is my first attempt at this sketch earlier tonight.
Just thought I'd share...

It's my Head #24, from Hensen & Bowie's Labyrinth... gathering inspiration for the Masquerade on Saturday night. Two days to make a mask!! Definitely a super-hero mask. Definitely.
Oh, and this drawing was drawn in a fine quality 'Field Notes' notebook fieldnotesbrand.com. Only the very best.

#21, 22, and 21-1/2 Heads

study in Jiffy Marker

Backside of page from #21.
I think I like this side better. There is a certain subtlety and sauciness in this one.

[update: my friend said it about this drawing the other night: I've managed to get tonal values out of a non-tonal implement. Hey, I am smarter than a pen!]

This one came from inside my head, not of my head.
I've always had a tough time making up images to draw. I think this practice of drawing more is helping me get more tools of "what things can really look like" for arsenal. um, yeah. duh. practice.

I sketched this one in ball point pen, which is a fairly new sketching medium for me. I like the scratchy quality to it, and the fact that you can only go so dark with it until you are scraping through the paper.

Continuous Line Drawings while listening to The Tiger Lillies

Self-Portrait Continuous Line Drawings. Very, very addictive. Like Gin, and The Tiger Lillies. All three together. That's what I call a Long Weekend.
